Connecting people, history, and community.

I'm Evan and peopled-powered stories are my passion. I want to hear your story.

I help people and organizations connect meaningfully with history, culture, and community. My work brings together public engagement, museum operations, volunteer leadership, and practical systems-building to create programs that are clear, welcoming, sustainable, and rooted in purpose.

Digital Archivist

I contribute to Shipwreck City, a volunteer project led by Phil Parisi documenting Lake Union’s submerged history. As Digital Archivist and a member of the project team, I help organize research, develop digital records, write vessel and object summaries, and support the interpretation of underwater documentation for public audiences. My work focuses on helping turn field notes, images, video, and archival research into accessible stories that make Lake Union’s hidden maritime history easier to understand and connect

with.

Where I Can Be a Resource

I care about helping people and organizations make history, volunteer engagement, and public storytelling feel clearer, more human, and more sustainable. My work is rooted in the idea that history is powered by people, relationships, and the systems that help stories last.

Strong volunteer programs do not happen by accident. They need clear roles, thoughtful onboarding, useful training, consistent communication, and systems that help people feel supported rather than managed as an afterthought. My work focuses on building the practical structures that make volunteer engagement more sustainable: handbooks, role descriptions, recruitment pathways, training plans, recognition practices, documentation, and long-term engagement strategies. I care about volunteer programs that are welcoming, mission-connected, and realistic for the staff and volunteers who keep them running.

Public History & Interpretation

Public history is strongest when research, objects, places, and personal experience are translated into stories people can actually connect with. My work focuses on making complex histories more accessible through interpretation, public-facing writing, exhibit and digital content, archival organization, and community-centered storytelling. I am especially interested in the human side of history: the people behind objects, the labor behind institutions, and the stories that often sit just below the surface. Whether through museums, archives, archaeology, or digital projects, I look for ways to help people see why history still matters.

Share Your Story

Everyone carries history. This project invites people to share personal stories, memories, objects, places, family histories, work experiences, or moments that shaped them. You do not need to be famous, historic, or extraordinary to have a story worth preserving; everyday lives are often where the most meaningful histories live. My goal is to create space for people-powered stories that might otherwise go undocumented, forgotten, or left out of formal archives.

About Me

I grew up in Vancouver, Washington, and have spent much of my life thinking about how place shapes identity. After living and working across the United States, from the mountains of Southwest Virginia to Colorado, I have hiked, climbed, and swam throughout the western United States, developing a deep connection to landscape, community, and the stories people carry with them.

I believe the places we call home deserve our attention, care, and effort. My work is rooted in a passion for justice, public memory, and helping people better understand themselves through history, community, and the shared responsibility of making the places around us better.
